Seat 1: Of the four candidates for this seat, Andra Hoffman, an administrator and part-time teacher in the neighboring Glendale Community College District, is the most qualified. She has served on regional committees exploring community college policies, including the Community College League of California’s legislative advisory committee. Thus, she offers intimate knowledge of the sometimes arcane world of higher education, but without overt loyalties to Los Angeles Community College District interest groups.
I am running for Seat #1 on the Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees because of my passionate belief in the community college system and my commitment to the students, their families and the staff of our colleges.
As a Trustee I will fight tirelessly to improve the quality of education at our colleges and ensure access to the colleges for all who wish to attend.
I am a Professor of American and California government with 17 years of community college experience. In addition to my years of work in the classroom, I have advocated for community colleges in the legislature, and headed our campus Job Placement Center.
As a member of the Board of Trustees of the Los Angeles Community College District I will fight to keep fees affordable, be a leader in the effort to give students the foundation to transfer to the state college or university system, and champion the expansion of our job and career training programs.
Thank you for visiting my website. I hope I can count on your support in this important election.
