I am running for re-election to Seat #1 on the Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees because of my continued passion for the community college system and my commitment to the students, their families and the staff of our colleges. Now more than ever, my experience as a seasoned educator, community college professional and President of the Board of Trustees is needed as we move into a post COVID19 educational environment.
I also serve as the Second Vice President of the Community College League of California Trustee Board where I advocate on a statewide basis for 115 community colleges and 2.1 million community college students.
As the current President of the Board, I have fought tirelessly to improve the quality of education and secure more funding to ensure access for all who wish to attend.
In addition to serving as your Trustee, I run the Career Center and Job Placement Program at Glendale Community College, I am a Professor of American and California government and I have 23 plus years of community college experience. In addition to my years of work in the classroom, I have advocated for community colleges in the state legislature and federal government and work with students every day as part of my job at Glendale College.
As President of the Board of Trustees of the Los Angeles Community College District, I have fought to keep fees affordable, have lead the effort to give students the foundation to transfer to the state college or university system, have championed the expansion of our job and career training programs, created an LGBTQ+ Advisory Group, authored numerous resolutions to protect DACA Students, supported the creation of Dream Resource Centers on all nine campuses, supported additional resources for student basic needs as well as helped to facilitate the district’s first African American Outreach Initiative.
Thank you for visiting my website. I hope I can count on your support in this important election.
